The well-proportioned development is the objective of the Kaunas Heat and Power Plant. Along with implementation of new environment-friendly technologies, the efforts are made to reduce as much as possible pollution of air, soil and water bodies, as well as to avoid noise. Another extremely important principle of well-proportioned development is the effective use of natural resources.

In the Kaunas Heat and Power Plant the new chimneys (originally 60 m high) were added in height by 20 m, in this way cutting down the amount of pollutants discharged into atmosphere of the city. Presently in one of chimneys the adjustment and alignment of the fume monitoring system are near to end. The installed system will constantly control the amount of pollutants discharged into atmosphere to keep it within the environmental norms.
Upon translating to life the project on development of the Kaunas Power Plant, the amount of discharged pollutants will decrease considerably. The implemented more effective technology for production of heat and electric power will enable to generate smaller amounts of pollutants per same quantity of energy produced.
The results of noise analysis showed that the noise level of the planned power plant will not exceed the permissible sound level in the milieu of residential and public buildings in the daytime even at the border of the territory of the Kaunas Power Plant. At night there the noise level will be exceeded by 9 dBA, but with no adjoining residential or public neighborhoods, it will not be the issue of the day. The nearest residential territory is distanced by approximately 250 m northeastwards from the planned noise-polluting equipment, and consequently, the permissible sound level will not be exceeded either in the daytime or at night.

Along with the growing capacity of heat and electric power capacity in the Kaunas Power
Plant, more industrial water will be needed for production; therefore, more water from the Kaunas Sea will be taken. The available effluent treatment system will do for the manufacture water generated. During the planned activities the amounts of surface (rain) waters and their treatment method will not change. After testing, it was established that the manufacture water and surface waters discharged into environment during the planned business activities will not have any negative impact on the Nemunas River water at Petrašiūnai.
