Trip to the Nobel Museum to the Most Advanced Class

2009-03-21

First time in Lithuania the elections of the most advanced class will be held. Competition, during which the schoolchildren are prompted for maximum improvement of their study results, will be launched in Kaunas. Starting in March, the project is open for all the comprehensive schools of Kaunas.

Concept of Progress Directed to Schools

Competition “Most Advanced Class” is a joint social project carried out by Kaunas Heat and Power Plant (KHPP) and Kaunas Power Plant (KPP). “Our activity is based on the most advanced and modern ideas and constant search of innovative solutions. We have decided to promote the idea of progress also in the schools of Kaunas; therefore, we are announcing a competition to encourage the schoolchildren pursuing higher study results”, states Antanas Pranculis, the Director General of KHPP.

Project “Most Advanced Class” is meant for the 5th to 11th graders from the comprehensive schools of Kaunas. The winner of the competition will be the class that would demonstrate the highest improvement of its study results over the current trimester/semester as compared to the previous one.

Stimulus on Team Work

Recently, where great emphasis is drawn on the importance of good study results, competition between the schoolchildren is likely grow that leads to the destruction of good atmosphere in the class. Competition “Most Advanced Class” gives you a stimulus to outbrave yourself, as well as improve and pursue higher results. Project organisers hope that the competition will hereby gather the developing personalities for the shared goal.

“Generation of heat and electric power is the team work. We are sure that team work would lead to the achievement of highest results and greatest victories. This social project will also prove this, affirmed Mr Pranculis. Victory of the competition “Most Advanced Class” is most possibly likely to go to the class that will work jointly; instead of putting efforts in individual work it will also help its classmates. The winning will be predetermined by the overall result of the whole class”.

Trip to Sweden to the Winners

Project “Most Advanced Class” will continue up to the end of the school year, whereas its winners will be announced in June. The winning class will be awarded the progress-symbolizing prize, namely a voyage to the Swedish capital, including the visit to the Nobel Museum. Schoolchildren from the second and third place winning classes will win bookstore gift vouchers.

The Nobel Prize is annually granted to the people or organizations for their outstanding achievements in particular scientific field or highly important public activity. Situated in the heart of Stockholm, the museum will allow the schoolchildren getting acquainted with exceptional achievements and help them to imagine how the Nobel Prize winners brought changes to the world in the 20th century.
